My name is Lydia Hollon, and I am a former Admissions Officer at InGenius Prep. I hold a Bachelor of Arts degree in Politics with minors in Inequality and Global & Urban Education from New York University. During my time at NYU, I honed my passion for education by working as a tutor and teaching assistant.

Driven by this passion, I took on the role of Student Director of First-Year Programs at NYU and co-founded an education startup called Pro BoKnow. Through Pro BoKnow, I dedicated myself to assisting low-income students and students of color in achieving their college dreams.

During my tenure at NYU, I had the privilege of evaluating admission applications, with a specific focus on reviewing supplemental essays and scholarship materials. I played a crucial role in making recommendations for admission decisions and actively participated in the selection committees for two scholarship programs at NYU, as well as the southern region committee. Additionally, I conducted interviews for scholarship applicants and wielded substantial influence in determining recipients for the MLK Scholars and Dean’s Scholarship programs.

Beyond my experience at InGenius, I am also an Educational Consultant and High School English Teacher. My true passion lies in working with teenagers and witnessing their transformation into the young adults they aspire to be. This passion is a driving force behind my career in college admissions counseling, where I can guide students as they take their first steps into adulthood. It’s an exhilarating and pivotal time in their lives, and I find immense joy in being there to provide support and guidance.

Originally hailing from Louisville, KY, I now call Jersey City home, where I reside with my husband and two beloved cats. My unwavering dedication to education continues to be a central part of my life. In my free time, I indulge in reading, watching TikToks, and staying active through exercise.
